4.10 install

Does anybody know what gear i need, color, tooth count for a 96 ranger 5 speed? I was wondering if a mustang gear would work in it. I'm planning on swapping in a set of 4.10's this weekend. Thanks!

it is the first vehicle i ever bought and paid for. I don't care how much trouble it is to swap over, i'm keeping it. I have a little over 16k in it from past mistakes and just over all dumb moves, so it's staying. No more suggestions about selling the truck! I have all the parts laying around, i ha...

Money is tight, and i have all the ranger parts laying around. I'm don't want a solid axle. It's not going to be a wheeling truck, it's just going to be a nice daily driver that has 4x4. Thanks for the ideas though.

Hey guys what's up? I finally did it and ripped the 2.3 5 speed out, and put in a 4.0 5 speed out of a 97 ranger 2wd that absolutely got crammed in the left front. The 97 was the spitting image of my truck, with the exception of the wheels and a little chrome molding on the bed. The 4.0 runs like st...

first time i got the 4bbl working on the 460, it hit 7500, before i could lift my hand back up on to the shifter. I was insanely impressed with the strength of the bottom end of a stock ford big block! I'm still toying with the idea of a 97 model ranger with a 514 big block. Doubtful i'm gonna be ab...

3.55's are not a bad driving gear, but in my experience, they suck in the mustang,, it needs at least 3.73's. If i still had my 4x4 i would like to have put 4.10's in it, cause i choked it out a couple times in 4 high. Sigh, i miss that truck. :frown:

fire fire

do you think maybe something in the wiring shorted out, or might have been hooked up wrong? Just a thought, it's burnt bad enough that it most likely hid or totally consumed the culprit that caused the meltdown. My brother has a 78 f150, that caught fire like that once, and to this day we still don'...

460 mustang

It was a fairly easy swap. I found the body for 75 bucks, i had to put doors and a bumper cover on it. I had the 460 out of a 79 van, btw, the van is a weird all wheel drive 4x4 set up with twin differentials on the front. That's right twin differentials in the front, and a huge locker unit in the b...
