Ford to chevy Transfer case

Hey guys im a little new to this site but i need some help... Ive got a 86 chevy pickup and recently purchased a used transfer case out of a 86 ford 350.... the old transfer case in the chevy was a 208 and the new one that i got is a 208...i have recently took it to a mechanic and he says that this transfer case will not work in the chevy...is this true...or is there some kind of adapters that you need. HELP ME OUT GUYS. If you need some more info let me know and i will do the best i can

If you take a quick look under your chevy you will notice that the front driveline output shaft is on the passenger side, Ford's are on the driver's side so it will not work. It appears your mechanic is right.

The reason it doesn't work? that's simple. It's a ch*vy. It's like trying to fly an airplane without wings. It just ain't possible. My advice. Stick to the Ford and dump the "truck" in the nearest river.

He has a good start on building a truck; a 208 for a ford!
On a serious note, you can swap all the hard parts into the chevy case if you need to.
