Hey guys im a little new to this site but i need some help... Ive got a 86 chevy pickup and recently purchased a used transfer case out of a 86 ford 350.... the old transfer case in the chevy was a 208 and the new one that i got is a 208...i have recently took it to a mechanic and he says that this transfer case will not work in the chevy...is this true...or is there some kind of adapters that you need. HELP ME OUT GUYS. If you need some more info let me know and i will do the best i can
thanks
If you take a quick look under your chevy you will notice that the front driveline output shaft is on the passenger side, Ford's are on the driver's side so it will not work. It appears your mechanic is right.
EBSteve just likes to watch me break things.:-)
420HP and 775Ft lbs Now it is time to break things.
The reason it doesn't work? that's simple. It's a ch*vy. It's like trying to fly an airplane without wings. It just ain't possible. My advice. Stick to the Ford and dump the "truck" in the nearest river.
