I don't know. I saw that in my repair manual when I first started messing with BII's but I never realy tried to track down an answer. it might not have been a real popular pick that caused production numbers to be low.....or one of those experimentation things that never realy picked up much demand. if you think about it the only thing you would probably gain from having a small diesel in a small pickup would be gas milage. the towing would probably not improve that much because of the axle cap.
you thinking of buying one to save money on gas?

I have seen two diesel rangers, one at the dump in everett and one in snohomish. Both were two wheel drive and and early model long beds. They were options that were not cost effective. 2.2 L motors and not very dependable. They did the same with some escorts and topazs also

A friend of mine has 2 diesel rangers ready to go and 1 spare parts engine for them. Also my dad used to own one about 10yrs ago or so.
On a side note the friend with the two rangers will be selling one soon not sure howmuch he will want I guessing around $2000cdn or so.
Awsome engine though i believe all the diesel rangers are turbo. GREAT rad for the v-8 swap its what im using in mine now. But when he got his first one it had been sitting for 8yrs we dug it out(in 5ft of snow) threw a battery in and turned the key started right up.
