new to the bronco II thing.... few questions i havent found.

Post by canaanz31 »

Ok, i just bought a 90 bronco II 4x4, auto. I have aftermarket wheels it seems, same as stock size, same off set ect. whats the largest tire i can fit on stock suspension. second question, is there a K&N kit for the car that is conical... I dont particularly care for the square stock filter design. annnd does anyone have a picture of thier current set up, so I can have an idea of how it was done. and my final question is, who makes a bolt-in roll cage for the bronco II? I used to have a full size bronco years ago that came with an installed cage, and it was bolt in... thanks for your time,

minor triming on most trucks and you can get 31x10.5's on there. the only thing is the stock size rim will not work with a 10.5. you need to have at least a 6 but an 8 is perfact. I think the BII rim is a 5.5.

honestly, leave your stock box. you might not like the looks of it but it will work just fine and to alter it will just cost you more money.

no one makes a BII roll cage unless you have one made. they do make one for a ranger so you might be able to make some minor altercations and make something work.

 really? how about a 34-11.50 15? stock wheels are 6.5 inches and work fine for 31's. The help keeping the proper offset and they also keep the valve stem core further in keeping it safe from damage. ;)

I think stock rims are 7s, and I'm not recommending it but I did squeeze some 33x12.5s on them, here's a pic of the poor puckered tires:

as far as the air filter I agree with keeping the box but have seen conical filters installed on the 2.9. As far as the cage they don't make a bolt in one and the pictures you showed were the worst example of a roll cage I have seen that is some thin tubing wrapped in padding, probably PVC insullation. I think you could add to the ranger one with good results though.

the rule of thumb for rims is 4" do not go ver that or you will deffinatly run into problems breaking the bead loose. even if the BII rim is a 6" I would still run lower air pressure so you don't run into problems.......ie. insted of 35psi run 28. if you run full pressure you could end up with wear in the center of the tire instead of evenly across the tread.

Sorry you didn't like the cage but I can assure you it is all roll cage material welded in. I used a combination of a cuple of cages that I had around and it did the job. I didn't have a large pocket to dig into and I did it all myself. It did structuraly enhance the chassis and was tested a few times with out failure. :finger:

P.S. If you look on the wheel it will say JJ15 X 6.5. If your head doesn't hurt to much to read.

is that stamped into the rim? I just threw my stock wheels to the side when I got mine so I could run 15x8's from the start. never really looked at them then someone walked off with them.

They are usually stamped on all rims. Either on the inside of the wheel so that the tire installer can see it or on some alloys they are cast into the backside of the wheel. My Buckshots recommended a 7 inch wheel. I used the stock ones since I had them and they worked fine. I ran 31-10.50's on my ranger for many years happily without any unusual wear or probelms.

were those factory steel wheels?

I had the aluminum rims that were 5 spoke and they were skinny. I just assumed that they were 5.5's. my truck was scary when I first got it with the stock rims and tires.

ranger5.0, i registered just so i could tell you how much of an asshole you are... marinebII was just commenting on his experience, and you had to bitch like a lilttle girl... your rollcage looks like shit, and there is no way you fit 34's on a stock bII... dig a hole, jump in it, and get your friend (if you have one) to bury you while you are still alive. maybe that will fix your attitude.

Im not trying to get in the middle of this pissing match, but I have heard and I have seen pics of a stock b2 with 35s with MAJOR fender trimming. I think thats all we need to say about it. Anything can be done with enough time and cutting. :D
