Help pulling springs

Post by nickb »

OK this might be a stupid question. I'm going to a U-pull it junk yard for explorer spings, I can't take a torch or a generator in the yard. So what would be the easiest way to get all the springs off and what size wrenchs would I need? Thanks for any help on the easiest way to get these off

If they will let you take a sawsall cordless take it and cut the spring hangers off. Cut the u-bolts as well for a quik pull. If not take a socket set and a can of PB blast. Still should take too long. Maybe a cheater bar about 3' in case you need the leverage. Good luck.

nickb,

This might be too late to help you, but in case not here goes.

Just two days ago ,I wastrying to get the springs off a 1992 Sport Explorer thats going to the junkyard.

The u-bolt nuts on both the Explorer and the BII are 18mm...deep socket needed for the Explorer.

The spring eyebolts and nuts are 21m.
