I have an 88 BII that was 2wd and I'm converting it to 4wd. I pulled the A4LD and put a C-5 in. I have the Skyjacker 6" lift with extended radius arms and the Skyjacker cross member/tranny support. Problem is the location of the tranny mount on the C-5 is 3.5 inches forward of the where the Skyjacker cross member/tranny support is. Anyone delt with this? Guess it would be the same problem as on a 83-84 Ranger or 84 BII with a C-5.

Cant you make your own adapter plate between the cross member and tranny? Some 1/4" or 1/2" if needed could be used to support the weight.

I tried that and it looks like the weight of the tranny is pushing down and twisting the round tube Skyjacker crossmember. Next attempt would be to try to gusset the flat plate. I tried to call Skyjacker and all circuts were busy down that way. Guess they have worse problems down there than I do. So I thought I'd post and see if anyone had info on this.

My other guess would to make your own using part/s of the skyjacker stuff. Maybe like 2 different crossmembers one in front of the other a couple of inches.

I've been thinking about that also. Looks like Duff does the extender plate thing but I can't tell if they use round or square tube for there cross member.

Just though I'd check see if anyone was running a C-5 with the Skyjacker long radius arms and crossmember and see what they did.

It's a long way from being on the road so if no one has any info I'll just wait till things get sorted out down south and contact Skyjacker.

Well it would seem really easy to me to use square tube unless you are good with a bender and round tube. I already am looking at possible way to make one for mine, but I have too many other things that have taken my time...........

well i dunno if its the same for the skyjacker thing but when i did my 5.0 swap I used a flat piece of 1/2" plating I had and drilled four holes into it.

all you need to do is remove the rubber mount from the tranny bolt the plate directly to the tranny and move the rubber mount to the side that bolts to the crossmember that way the weight is directly above the crossmember and should be like it was ment to be.

I crawled under it today and it looks like I can use the stock crossmember/mount to support the tranny and the Skyjacker one to support the rear radius arm brackets. They are going to take some fab work to make room for the front driveshaft when I install the doubler, but I can go ahead and put them in and get the rear driveshaft and axle done. Just need to get a longer bolt and use an existing hole on the drivers side that the Skyjacker bracket uses and drill a hole in the frame on the passsangers side. My son had been working on it and the info I received from him was a little lacking.
