ok well lucky me gets to install a v8 into a new BII as i rolled my old one now the new BII is mint and I am gonna do a nice job with the engine this time.

I was wondering what did you v8 converters do as far as fuel pumps go?

Last time i took out the inline left the intank but it was really noisy and sometimes when flooring it the pressure wasnt there.

Now i know about the mechanical Econoline 150 pump but what did you do with the stock electric pumps? If you bypassed the intank one what did you use to replace the pick-up unit?

I would probably leave the pump in the tank. It is just a primer pump to supply the high pressure pump in the frame. It would keep a constant supply to the mechanical pump. Other than that you would have to find a pickup tube to rplace the intank fuel pump. You could probably make it.

Leave the in tank pump, add an electric pump along the frame rail and then a fuel pressure regulator.

I thought all FI bronco II's came with the in tank pump, AND the pump on the frame rail. I know most the V8 ranger race guys use the stock pump. I'm also pretty sure it's the same pump that's used on a lot of FI V8 fords.

I used the inverted mechanical pump, but I'm carbed. It has caused a few headaches on which PS and AC brackets I could use. At one point I was also going to convert to a short serp setup, but that required changing the timing cover, which wouldn't work a with a mechanical fuel pump.

just replace the high pressure pump on the frame rail with a regular electric pump.... block off the mechanical pump and run the serp belt

My 89 only has the in tank pump not one on the rail.

ok thanx for the replies everyone I have now got a 5psi pump ill leave the intank and remove the frame rail one and add the 5psi one :)

One stupid question tho are pumps better pushers or suckers? should I put the 5psi pump right beside the engine or down on the frame rail.

liquid is pushed easier then pulled.
