I miss that anticipation......waiting to see what the UPS guys brings for my truck today. When I was home on my 3 weeks leave befoe coming here he new me by first name and brought something almost every day. I started ording stuff for it about 3 weeks before I left my last duty station so that I would have or get it all while I was home. You gonna throw in a locker with those new gears?

yeah, I had to get the airbags for the 76 F100 I tow with. the rear will squat and let the front lift enough to push the front when I try to stop. when I get these in the rear it will alow me to adjust the ride height in the rear and stiffen it up so the trailer is more level. I also bought a trailer breaking system but they had it in stock so I got it a week ago.
I would love to throw in a locker when I set up the gears but the funds are getting low and I still need to buy the front gears and install kit this week. besides......I want to go with the ARB and I deffinatly don't have $700 to spare. just don't want to put something in that I will have to sell later, rather do it right the first time. thought about the lincoln locker but I don't want to trash my gears when it blows.
as soon as I opened the door the UPS guy said "I got more parts for you...." I was working on the truck one day and he delivered it around back so he saw the project.

uhhh..... you need to get a price from PORC on the ARB. My 60 ARB was like $580 or something.

My buddy put a pair of those bags on his 69 Chebby for that same reason. The work perfectly. You won't be dissapointed.
He used a lockrite in the rear of his. Seems to work good. His truck is a DD.

what I would like to run is a set of ARB's front/rear. I would like to have total control of what the front and rear are doing. they just seem to be the best option. you can open them on the street and lock them when you need them. that and they advertise to be 100% stronger.
my problem is all my parts are gathering in the front room and I have no time to install. picked up the land cruiser slave yesterday for the clutch on the BII. term projects are starting to pile up.....if I don't get on the ball I am going to get upset for missing some wheeling trips.

You're building a trailer queen right? There's really no need for an ARB in the rear. When I hit the dirt, my ARB gets locked and stays locked all day. I only run an ARB to save my tires. A spool is more reliable, and much more affordable.
On the front, I strongly recommend an automatic locker. My experience with wheeling with people with front ARB's, is they spend more time messing with them than they do wheeling. ON, I can't steer, psssst, I can't move, ON I can't steer, pssst pssst pssst
Personally, even though I haven't had any issues with my ARB, I would want at least one auto locker for reliability.
The complete control is more a fantasy than anything. A few of my experiences.
Snow and Ice: So my first trip in the snow with my ARB, I made it about 2 minutes before I locked it in. One wheel peel sucks. Assuming you can actually get moving, there just isn't any throttle response or control like when you are spooled.
Side hilling: There was this nice muddy side hill I had to cross. I initially slide right off the trail. I thought cool, turn off the ARB, and scoot right across...not. Slid off the trail in the same spot. Turned it back on and hammered down for the hi-line
That was just one situation of many. I don't really notice any improved sidehilling traction.
The only time I think ARB's would be helpfull is in a hi-traction environment like MOAB. But even then, if there is that much traction, I'd just kick it in 2wd.
Front wheel drive is another thing I've found not as useful as I expected.
Anyway, something to consider.

I didn't realy think about it for the rear but you're right. I might look into the spool, I think they can be found for under $200.

yeah, its a full spool. I have heard that the minis are junk. thanks for the advice. I realy only wanted to set it up once.
