Just gotta do the research and set it up for what you want. are you going for horsepower or torque. make sure you get cam and lifters as a set.

Think about the Big picture..
Make sure your parts work together.
What I mean is start with a clean slate.
Answer some of these following questions:
1. What do you want this Engine to do?
2. Do you need low end grunt or 9000 RPM screamer.
3. What is it going to do? Daily driver, drag,or pulling power?
4. What is more important Fast and furious or Fun to drive and reliable?
Once you get your basics you look at what you have and what you can afford. The days of just slap a big ol loopy cam in it and all is good are gone.
To make 400hp with a 302 is asking for some expensive parts.
You need to consider a lot of things like is that stock lower end going to handle a continuous 400hp? What heads are you going to use? What fuel do you plan on running.
What intake and carburetor and what kind of ignition.
Once you answer those questions it should be real obvious what cam you need to use.
Good Luck.
