I got a 351w that my father and grandpa modified, it has the same bell housing as the 302. should i pull the 351 out of the truck I do not drive anymore? or buy a 302? I still got to get a trans and case. but what do you guys think i should do. is going in to an 86' b2 4x4
any thought on this is appreciated.
302 or 351m?
Re: 302 or 351m?
Go with a 302, they're about the most easy engine to get parts for, in case something goes wrong down the road. as a plus, nothing really quite sounds as good as a 302, and this is coming from a chevy guy.

Re: 302 or 351m?
Thanks but I can find parts for the 351 easy, and money is an issue and if i go with the 351 i wont have to buy exhaust and an engine.

both are just as easy to get parts for. the 351 is a little bit bigger but i am a power junkie so i would go with the 351. i am trying to figure out what i want to do. i have an injected 302 and 351, and a carb 302. just trying to figure out which one i want to use. either way you go exhaust is going to be tight.

My personal belief is to always go with F.I. It runs better at angles than a carburetor. Also If your in high altitude it will automatically compensate for the thin air. To me its a no brainer give me F.I over a Carburetor for off road any time.
Carburetors have their time and place but in my opinion F.I. For off road. Oh one more thing is that with today's formulation of gasoline and ethanol the fuel has a lower vaporization pressure and boils easily with a float bowl system Carburetor this causes vapor lock and ya don't need vapor lock when your scaling some peak and hanging sideways at a 60 degree angle..
Go F.I.
P.S Exhaust should be no problem as there are companies selling block hugger headers. I would almost bet a set of mustang headers from a 5.0 say 1989 0r 1990. something like that.
