Noise in transmission

1985 B2 2.8l V6, fm145 mitsubishi manual transmission

I had a whining noise, only when the clutch wasnt being toached. Everyone and there brother told me it was the pilot bearing. I pulled out and replaced the bearing. The old bearing looked like it was worn down. Fired that b*tch back up and the noise continues! Its the same noise but quieter and after it gets warmed up the noise almost completly disappears. What is it?

There is info (but very little, at least that i could find) on the Fifth gear bearing sleeve rubbing into the 5th/reverse syncro-hub, no info on if it makes noise. Heres the link for the place i got this info http://www.drivetrain.com/parts_catalog ... itsubishi5
This couldnt be my problem, could it?

Probably a transmission main shaft bearing. Thy putting it in gear and keep the clutch pushed in. The noise should go away with the vehicle stopped and in gear with the clutch pushed in. If the noise is gone then you know it is a transmission bearing.

So the best fix is overhauling the tranny, just get a kit and build a new one? was planning on doing that anyways. Since I am going to rebuild it now is there any thing i can replace that will beef up the transmission? Just strength from breaking, more power would be nice, but stronger is what i need. I want to pull a 8-10 foot camping trailer..
