Your tick tick tick is indeed the Lifters or "Tappets". That is probably the most famous thing a 2.9 is known for. Poor clearances in the cam bearings cause a significant oil pressure drop before the lifters get their oil.
There is NO known cure for this other than replacing the cam and cam bearings. If you go that deep into an engine you better just rebuild it! One more thing a 2.9 is famous for is cracking heads. Do NOT let your engine overheat even slightly. If the motor overheats it will crack a head..

Hey there Drofman. I been fighting some significant medical problems. I have spent 99.9 % of my time inside recouping from a "Injured" neck and back. Believe me it has not been fun.
I been getting outside once in a while lately and will be back in the shop in about a month. Meanwhile I been watching and lurking about. So everyone better be careful cause I am back in town!!
