86 b2 2.9 to a 4L swap

ok soo ive read on here that the 4L is a direct bolt in to my 86 2.9 will the 4L bolt up to my 5speed trans? also would i have to change the whole wiring harness or would the 2.9 harness work and what else would i need for the swap? i was thinkin of trying to find a early 90's explorer for the 4L and my the 8.8 rear diff also is the 8.8 a direct bolt in ?

8.8 is not a direct swap. You need to cut-off and flip leaf springs mounts and install shock mounts.
Dunno anything about the 4.0 swap.

I've been told you direct bolt the tranny but the wiring harnesses are different plus you need the new computer stuff and dash from the donor vehicle.

hmmm you have to use the dash to how come?
