Trans question

Help... Will a c4 or c5 bolt up to my 86 2.9? If so what years will fit want somethin stronger than the a4ld

you need a 2.8 bellhousing,flexplate and spacer, C5 converter. yas the tranny will fit. gonna different drive shsfts to. the C5/C4 is shorter and the rear crossmember wont bolt up

Thanks dave I need all the help I can get I know the basics of trans but nothin bout the technical aspects of them and what interchanges with what ... What kind if vehicle do u think would be the best donor for the trans itself?

84 B2, early rangers with the 2.8 for the 4x4 C5. The 4X4 C4 was ONLY in the early broncos(66/77).

Dave, What was the big clutch tranny? I seem to remember a tranny called a big clutch tranny.
