I know that this question has problaby been asked and answered many times, but since I am a newbie, I thought I would ask again. I recently bought a 1987 Bronco II. The price was decent. The person I bought it from had owned it for the past 12 years or so. He told me that he had had a lot of work done to it over that time, including replacing the fuel pump. The other day while I was driving to work, it just stopped running. I thought that because I put some fuel injector cleaner in it, it might have caused a piece of gunk to get caught up in the fuel line and stalled it. It started up after about 5 minutes and ran fine. It did the same thing again yesterday, but again it started right up again and ran fine. From reading about this, it sounded like the inertia switch is going bad. I went to the local junk yard and got an inertia switch from an escort, since Ford pretty much used the same switch for all their vehicles. My question where is this switch located on a 1987 Bronco II? I looked in the spot where it is supposed to be, under the dash, above the right side of the transmission hump. Nothing there. Any suggestions as to where the next obvious location would be? I really want to change out this switch. Does anyone have a picture showing where it is at? Thanks for any help and information.

Pass side floorboard behind carpet just right of the hump. black with a button on the top. did they change the pump in the tank also? there are 2. 1 on the frame rail and 1 in the tank till 88. when a switch goes out it goes out and most of the time it's the connection. b2's are know for the tank pump going out and same symptoms you decribed. do a search for tank fuel pump.
