Hey I have questions and lookin for answers! I know there are a ton of guys around here a lot smarter then me when it comes to mechanics.
Here is the deal, I was driving down the road in my 88 bronco II 5spd manual, and my steering wheel broke. Completely came off, was really scary haha, but anyways, had to get it towed to a shop. The next day the shop calls me, says the steering wheel is fixed, but the tranny is blown. WTF? I go over there, and the tranny is completely locked up. Wont get out of neutral. Right away I say the tow guy fucked up and blew my tranny, because tranny's just dont lock up for nothing. When he came to tow it I had to go to work, I had my dad come wait for the tow guy. I told my pops you have to put both the tranny and t-case in neutral. My dad says the tow guy came, and never even got in the truck. My dad had to go in and put the tranny in neutral, but the t-case was left in 2 high. They put it on a flat bed and towed in to the shop.
Now my questions.
1. Sound like a familiar problem to anyone? Easy fix? Or scrap and go with new tranny?
2. If I do swap it out for same tranny, what kind of project am I looking at? Difficulty level?
3. How do I know if its a mazda or mistubishi or however the hell ya spell it. All I know is it is a 1988 bronco II XLT 4x4.
Thanks hopefully someone can help me out.
