89 b2 wit a 302 question

yo i got a 89 wit a 302 in it :D runs strong as hell n is pushin 400hp beleive it or not :finger: but when i go to shut it off i turn the key to off n it still wants to run. it kinda putters llike its gunna conk then it shuts off. any tips? :confused: thx

retard the timming a little,or turn the idle down. whats the specs on the motor

well i jus got the beast. its a 4 barrel bored out 302 with: 650 eb carb, long tube headers, no cats, flomaster dual 40s, dual pushers, aod trans, the entire engine is rebuilt with aftermarket cams, pistons, rods , n manifold. theres even more stuff done to it that im forgetin. anyway its lifted 7" w/33 but im goin t0 35s

Try running some high octane gas. If it's a built engine, then it might have a high compression ratio, causing it to detonate once the ignition is turned off.

you should try retarding the timing because if its to far advanced it will cause excess heat in the cylinder thus allowing the gas to detonate with out spark. A couple degrees will make a difference.

the throttle was stickin a lil so i made a braket n put a spring on it to make a throttle return n its perfect now
