crankshaft question

hey guys im new here and need a little help plz.
i have a 83 b2 with the 2.8l carb and a 86 b2 with the 2.9l EFI.
both have manual trans and are 4x4
i was wondering if you could put the crankshaft from the 2.8 in the 2.9?
any help would be greatly appreciated
