Bronco 2 4x4 shift motor

Have a 88 B2 with electric 4x4 shift. I can get it to shift to 4 High but wont go in 4 Low. The light for 4 low just flashes. I tried a diffrent shift motor and they both do the same. Noticed the shift shaft has a little resistants when I move it manually. Any Ideas. Should the shift shaft move real easy ??? Thanks in advance for the info...

At least yours will go into 4hi. mine just clicks at me......good luck

I have an '89 with electric 4x4 and the owner guide says, "To shift to or from low range, stop the vehicle and shift automatic transmission to neutral or disengage clutch on manual transmission before pushing the LOW RANGE button. Hope that helps.
