Buying a 302 motor what to look for?

I'm looking at getting a disassembled 302 motor to rebuild.What do i look for to make sure the block is good and rebuildable?

Check the heads between the valves to see if there is any cracking. Measure the bore in each cylinder to see if any are too out of round, or if some are different than others.
Run your finger around the top inside edge to see if there is a gap between the cylinder wall, and top of block. Be careful, as this area can be sharp.
Check the sizes on the crank journals, and see if they are within specs. Look at the journals to see if there is any noticeable scratches or nicks as they can tear up bearings fairly quickly.
Best bet is to take it to a local auto parts store, and have them check the clearances for you, Most all shops here do it for free.
