86 Bronco II 5 psi Fuel preassure

Post by forman621 »

Ok my truck runs at about 31 or 32 psi and runs and drives ok. then sometimes when under load and at operating temp it cuts out barely runs and the fuel preassure goes to 5 psi and sits there until it figures out how to fix itself or the connections gets better. i have relplaced the high preassure fuel pump already and didnt do anything.

1. voltage at pump is 12.8 v
2. voltage after inertia switch is 13.5
3 before switch is 14.02
4 and at the fuel pump relay 14.3 at al contacts ecept the ground which also has good connection.

What is going on I really need some help.
Thanks

I'd replace both filters first to see if there's any improvement. If not, I would replace the pressure regulator. It's more likely that the regulator would fail than either pump. If you do end up replacing the pressure regulator, be sure to shop around EVERYWHERE you can! Prices vary greatly. Here in Milwaukee I found the same part range from $27 to over $100.
