starter problem?
starter problem?
So today when I was leaving work, my starter was acting up again, (older post about starter not wanting to engage or bad fuel lines) but today it was different. After I tried several times to start it, the starter just kicked on and stayed on, it didnt start the engine but the starter gear would sometimes catch the flywheel and make the engine start to turn over but anyway, it was just staying on so I jumped out and grabbed my tools and quickly undid the negative on the battery. Then I let it sit for a minute or two then tried it again, it started right up? My question is this: Why did the Starter just keep spinning? and has anyone else encountered this problem before?

Starter Solenoid is bad. Replace it. It is on the fender at the end of the positive Bat Cable.
When a Solenoid gets old it gets pits and such on the contacts inside the switch housing. This can sometimes cause the starter contact to weld itself together. It could also be a internal spring in the Solenoid causing it to stick.
Either way replace the solenoid.
