Timing Marks Anybody?

This is my first BII, so without sounding stupid... What is the deal with the timing on the '84 2.8 liter? There is just a needle and then two marks on the harmonic balancer. I just replaced the head gaskets and I think it may be out of time, but its really stumping me. Any help is appreciated.
