window wont go up

Post by borjawil »

Hey everyone got a 88 bronco 2. the passenger side window is up and the driver side down. Its power windows and locks.
When i try to move either window i can here the motor but nothing happens. Did the windows come of the lifter or track or whatever its called? or?

Go ahead and pop the door panel off. Pull the paper away and Look at it. Use a small inspection mirror and flashlight to see whats wrong.

dont have a mirror but i could pretty much see inside. i tried lifting the window while pressing the up button but no go. i can hear the motor i think the gear on it or that it connects to is stripped. not sure how the mechanism works so if someone has a diagram or cut away view or something thatd be great.

also if i need to get into the door how would one go about doing so? i notice three bolts on the door but i also noticed the inner door is not just the bottom piece but one sold "whole door" piece.

if your motor is still working and you can hear it from what ive heard it could be two things. either the motor isnt getting enough power or it needs a gear kit. advanceautoparts has motors for 50 and gear kits for 19.
