hey guys. still waiting on the transmission fund to grow so i can get back on the road. but while it is sitting ive been upgrading, cleaning everything.

ive always wondered why it only takes 20 bucks (8/9 gallons) to fill my gas tank when it is obviously not an 8 gallon tank. never really complained about it cuz i was getting decent milage and 20 bucks seemed alot better than 40.

but now that its sitting i figured i would try and fix the problem. im thinking the sending unit is bad, or the float is broken (or sunk).
when i fill the tank the pin goes past the full mark on the gauge (a good cm)
and i always refill the tank at 1/4 tank. i dont remember how many miles i was getting on the "full" tank, but it was decent.

any suggestions? anyone else have this problem?

well its a 23 gal tank. my gauge is messed up to. when it reads empty it takes 12gal

My fuel gauge is broke on my BII also, so i usually just fill it up every 100 miles but i know i can get about 250 out of a tank, but i dont like spending money on gas as do a lot of people, 20 bucks at a time is def. a lot better than 40-50 bucks Any idea how to fix the fuel gauage though?

its the sending unit in the tank... the fords and rangers from the mid 80's to early 90's seem to all have the issue eith gasoline corroding the sending unit.. the only way to fix it that I know of is to replace it... the only way to get a replacement is to replace the whole in tank fuel assembly... its about $120 and requires you to pull down the gas tank
