2.8 won't start

i went through a big ass water puddle and messed up my coil, swapped it wth one laying aroud ad got it home but it ran like crap, now i've replaced the coil dist cap ,rotor and plugs its now sparking but won't fire ive poured gas startig fluid nothng but the occasional backfire the whole time i've been slightly trning the dist thinking the timing but and also it has the air pump that recycles the exhaust ithe tube was hanging could tha circulate water in and prvnt gas to get to pistons? i desperately need hlp
