auto transmission, clicking noise?

Post by forman621 »

hey every one. i just finished putting my bronco II's automatic tranny in it.
the problem i am haveing is that the rear wheels still spin when truck is in park. drive shaft wont move.
the tranny will spin the wheels when in gear. another thing is that the left rear wheel spins a lot more than the right the right barely moves.
just today it started to make an awful grinding from underneath and i dont think it was the tranny at least i hope it wasnt.
does anyone have any idea what is going on?
thanks

Do the tires spin in the same direction or does one spin backwards? I'm assuming the truck is on jack stands and your spinning them by hand.

When you say they spin when in park but the drive shaft doesn't move, are spinning the same way then?

O.k you don't have a limited slip rear-end, but I think your problem is your spider gears. If you got a harbour freight or similar store get yourself a mechanics stethoscope and spin the wheels by hand and listen to the rear-end.
