'88 Bronco II - drips from radiator?

Post by RowanAmeth »

Ok, I have the B2 up and running, and so far it's been doing great, except for one thing that worries me slightly. I parked it, and noticed two spots where a clear fluid is dripping from either side of the radiator (or that area, not sure where exactly it's coming from). The fluid feels more slippery than water, though with all the crap that's in the engine compartment (and on the ground), that could be anything, but it seems like brake fluid. The problem is, I don't know if that's where any brake fluid could be leaking from, and I haven't found anything relevant in a search.

The drips are coming down only in those two spots, on either side of the radiator (not the smaller one in front, the larger main one). I hadn't run the A/C for hours before parking the truck and noticing the drips, but I did have the fan running and the heat turned a bit up to clear up some fog on the windshield, as the weather got somewhat cool tonight. The fluid is clear, colorless, and cool to the touch (the engine wasn't completely warmed up, but the needle had moved into the "normal" range). The amount of fluid is significant, enough to cover the back of my hand in about 20 seconds (and yes, I washed my hands thoroughly afterward). I haven't noticed any loss of braking power (yet), which one would think would happen if it's leaking that much brake fluid, but I'm no expert.

Also, I did run the truck through a deep puddle, though that was yesterday and it's dripping now. For the record, it handled the water effortlessly :D

If anyone has any idea what could be dripping from those two spots, I'd love to know.

Do you run anti -freeze or water? Did you check your brake fluid to see if your down any? I'd wash everything down really well with a de greaser and a hose, let it dry and just watch where it comes out of.
