Odd Electirc Problem

Noob here with the weird question of the month......
I recently bought an 88-B2. It has the usual issues of leaks, needs a/c conversion, etc, but all in all, I'm delighted with it. I wish I'd bought a Ford years ago.

The problem is with the horn and key-ignition warning (and any other warning chimes it might have). I can't hear them at all. Friends tell me they can hear the key chime VERY faintly, but an IED in Iraq robbed me of too much hearing. Someone said it's like someone turned the volume way down on the B2. :wtf: The radio works normally.

Getting a horn relay is easy enough, but I'm now wondering if the 2 problems are somehow related. If the relay fixes the horn only, does anyone have any ideas about how to fix they key-chime?

Ok I am talking in generalities here. I owed several vehicles in the late 80's that had a warning buzzer for several functions. My choice for it was to disable it. I found it was hard to separate the buzzer without some work, so I just reduced the volume by jamming a screwdriver into the piezoelectric noisemaker.

I would look to see if someone did the same to disable or reduce volume on yours. If you said friends could barely hear it. Have someone with good hearing trace the noise till you find the buzzer. I have seen some mounted under the drivers seat so listen there.

Good Luck and Thanks for defending our country!!! You guys rock!!!!!!
