i posted a few days ago about my dying bronco. thanks for all the suggsetions. i think i am going to try the fuel pump first but had some questions about it. does it have two fuel pumps or am i looking at something wrong? i looked it up at autozone and the one they show goes into the tank. i replaced my fuel filters when it first started doing it and there looked to be what i thought was a fuel pump on the frame between the canister filter and the inline filter. which one do i replace and how can i tell to make sure it is bad. i was thinking my problem would be the fuel system because when i bought it it had been sitting for a year. thanks again for the help and suggestions.

When I first read your post it got me thinking about whether or not there really is two fuel pumps. Well I'll be. After a little research it does appear to have two pumps. I crawled under the Bronco this morning to see if I could locate the high pressure pump. Guess I need to go back and look at those diagrams again. Couldn't find mine. Actually, I found all sorts of stuff on the fuel system. Just don't know what it all is yet. Keep the dialog coming.

88 was the last year of 2 pumps

i looked it up on autozone it only shows pumps that go into the fuel tank. but when i looked under there theres the other one in the frame unless this is something else, but it had an fuel lines in and out and wires to it so i asuumed it was a fuel pump.

Like Ranger Dave said, if your b2 is a 89 or 90 then the only pump is in the tank. The object you see (if you have a 89-90) and its under the drivers side door, its the fuel filter. It should have a metal plate covering it.

my bronco is an 86. and it has the one on the frame like the picture shows with the plate covering it. but on the autozone website it only shows the one in the tank for that year. thats what kinda messed me up. is the one in the frame called a fuel pump or is it called something else.

You may want to stop buying parts that are so crucial to you vehicle from discount part houses and shop for quality. You will find the quality of advice from your part guy improves too. These two fuel pumps are very important to have both and way different in there functions as a pump. I am a A.S.E. Master certified Tech with 20 years of experience turning a wrench proffessionally. What I find rediculous is I have diagnosed and repaired countless state of the art latest and greatest problems but when it comes to my 86 B II I find myself always challenged by some quirky problem that I cant resolve easily on what is basic and limited, not to mention ancient technology. At times I want to pay someone to fix it for me LOL. Anyhow, First rule, by a quality part so you don't create a new issue to track down.If you have to cheap out atleast let the guys at the ford parts house tell you what your truck has and not some yahoo down at autozone or checker. Sorry guys but it is what it is

I took my b2 out to the river today to see if i could get it to stall out on me.i have not been driving it alot lately so i was not sure how bad it was. it ran pretty good just a couple of sputters but not completly dead. it would sputter when i was on the sand spinning my tires but it seemed to do real well in the water. so it kinda made me think that it would be my fuel pump that was getting hot. so i thought i would ask you guys what you think. i know a lot of people have told me that its probably the fuel pump. i wanna know which one should i change, the high pressure one or the one in the tank.

thats a nice place to have it brake down. ever try dri-gas

i figured i would rather have it break down somewhere where there was no traffic or on the side of the road. the water was not that deep maybe 8"
