hi all. I have an 86 bronco II. I got it acouple months ago and it ran decent for the shape it was in. i have a long commute and on the way home one day it kinda cut out when i had to slow down but i got back on the freeway and it did fine the rest of the way home. the next afternoon it did it again. it was getting a little worse and then i siezed the engine. i found another engine and swapped it out.the motor ran fine but its still having that problem.now its gotten very bad.it dosent do it when its cold.i can drive a hundred miles in the morning and it will run fine but in the afternnon it starts to cut out and now its completely turning off. i can sit for a while and it will start back upand run for a little bitbut then die out again. i replaced the ignition control modulethat didnt help. theres fuel pressure to the rail when it dies out. thanks for the help

Sounds exactly like the symptoms of a bad TFI. The coil and pickup in the distributor can also have these symptoms. Really, anything electronic can.

I guess the first thing you need to determine is if you have spark or not when the no start situation occurs. Also carry a can of starting fluid with you. Give it a shot and see if it fires. Should give you enough information to get on the right path.

Trust me on this, you have a bad fuel pump. Not that it doesn't provide fuel to the rail, it is not provided at the proper fuel pressure. Just spent BIG BUCKS at the dealership on my son's BII to find this out. We went through the whole TFI Module scenario with no luck. New fuel pump and she purrs like a a kitten again.
