Brake lines

Post by WaPaul »

I put a lift on my B2 4" (1987). I need a brake line exstension, is there a way to make my own with the pipe kits and fitting I can buy at the local store, or do I need to buy the premade lines? with a 4" lift, can I reroute the lines and get enough slack to not need the new lines? I have seen the lines for about $130 per set, seems kind of high in price to me.

Any feedback on what worked for you would be a big help

Thanks

There are commercial built brake hose suppliers and several 4x4 stores sell them. To me 130 bucks does sound high! However, and I do stress However I personally would not home brew my brake lines or components. Your brakes are your life. Personally I feel my life is worth a hell of a lot more than 130 bucks. A person can spend a fortune on the rig and it won't do them a bit of good if you can't stop due to a fitting loose or fractured line from vibration etc.

Now as I said 130 bucks seems like a lot and especially if it is only 3 lines. if you do a quick bit of math you will see that's roughly 44 bucks a line. My opinion is someone is making a killing at those prices.

I bet the members on this board could steer you to good lines at a good price. Remember they don't have to be stainless braided Teflon coated chromed fitting line unless you are building a show truck. So good luck and be safe out there.
