Problem with key / steering / ignition lock

Post by neb_scot »

Just went and tried to start my BII and noticed the key was a bit difficult to get into the slot. After some presure I got it in but the bolt would not turn. So naturally I try to remove it next and its stuck. After some pulling it popped out, pressing the key release button did not help. So thinking it might be a cold thing I go and get some WD40 and spray it in there. Now the key slips in and out with no problem, but it does not "click" into locked position, and it certianly does not turn to let me start the engine.

Anyone any suggestions? How easy is it to break the stearing lock etc on a BII. Ive already had my share of problems with it, I never saw this one coming....

Okay rookie mistake here. It was explained to me that sometimes the lock falls out of place slightly and will jam as a result. The solution I was told (and worked) was to go nuts shaking the steering wheel back and fourth. Simple but effective.
