So in the mornings now that the weather has cooled down, when I start my BII she spits out that black crud. I have to hepl her idle and then after about 5 mins she idles fine if not a little high. But I will take what I can get.
I was looking at autozone on the web and came across 2 items that maybe I should replace to help my choke work better in the a.m.
choke pulloff
choke thermostat

Before laying out your cash, I would go through the repair manual and run through the carb tune-up. (the whole thing, don't short-cut it) It will tell you how to set your choke, adjust your idle(s) etc. Don't be quick to change stuff out. You may just need to do some adjustments. This is mostly mechanical stuff and doesn't really break that often, but there are a lot of guys out there that don't take the time to get them right and then kick em to the curb. I can't remember which of the manuals has the best guidance, but it was either Chiltons or Haynes. If you don't have these, that is where you should put your money. This carb is/was one of the best out there.

thanks,
I will follow my manual time to readjust things now that is is getting cooler.
Yea right we are still hitting almost 90 here in Vegas. I don't mind as I spent most my live in Colorado.
I still remember starting a standard and having to let it warm up so you could shift it into neutral

Yeah, things definately change when it's cold. My '65 E100 pu has a 3 spd and is quite stiff in the mornings, the 88 BII that I put a very nicely built 5spd in (after the original went south) is a bear to shift when it gets below 0, but that's partly because it's still so tight. Everything I own is a stick except for my '84 BII which will get a sex change in the near future from my '94 Exp...
Just remember to take your time, it will be worth it..
