Anyone know how difficult it would be to swap out my 1990 Bronco II 2.9 liter for a 1999 3.0 liter from a Ford Ranger? They are both automatics but the Ranger is not a 4x4.
Thanks

I don't know of anyone that has done a 3.0L. Are you sure it's a 3.0L and not a 4.0L? For some reason I thought the 3.0L only came in cars. Either way, you'll probably have to swap out the computers and associated wiring.

Rangers have 3.0's. I think they dropped the 4.0 some time ago even though on their website they say it's still an option. The 3.0 uses a different bell housing than our 2.9's or 4.0's I think so you'd have to find a 4x4 setup (tranny and tcase) out of a Ranger and swap that in as well. I think you'd be better off going to a 4.0

Why would you want to put a 3.0 in instead of a 4.0?
