I may have messed up . The '87 2.9 motor I'm rebuilding had a fitting in the left side of the oilpan that accepts a "single-wire" probe of some sort. ( Very close to the starter). Whats it for?
I'm guessing a oil temp probe?
I'm going back together and hope I can I do without it? I ask because...not knowing what it was for, I removed the fitting from the pan and sealed it off by welded a blank disc over the hole. Too late to turn back now.
yeah when my oil was low and my truck started getting hot the light would come on but since the motor swap and me not hooking that wire back up it hasn't blinked, flashed, stayed on, or even thought about coming on really...
