FULE PROBLEM

I HAVE A 1987 BRONCO II 2.9 FUEL INJECTED. IT FAILED TO START SEVERAL TIMES IN THE LAST 3 MONTHS BUT WOULD START THE NEXT DAY. FINALLY IT HAS STAYED BROKEN.
THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE THAT THE FUEL PUMP RELAY PULLS IN THEN DROPS OUT. THE GROUND FOR THE RELAY COIL COMES THROUGH THE INERTIA SWITCH. I CAN WIRE THE RELAY COIL DIRECTLY TO GROUND AND IT STAYS ENERGIZED AS LONG AS THE IGNITION KEY IS IN THE RUN POSITION. I DON'T KNOW IF ITS NESSARY TO REPLACE THE INERTIA SWITCH IF IT IS BAD AND ANYWAY I CAN NOT FIND IT.
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE THE INERTIA SWITCH IS?
WILL BAD THINGS HAPPEN IF IT IS NOT REPLACED?
