02 Sensor

Post by Willie Two »

How can I test the O2 sensor on my 2.8 / 84 Bronco. Does it change in resistance when it is working properly or is there a voltage change I can measure with a digital meter. Thanks to all who reply. Bob

I can't answer your specific question regarding testing the unit, except to say that when I had a major engine issue (see old posts) it was instantly resolved when I simply disconnected the O2 sensor (took the clip off) and ran without it. Note that there were NO codes indicating a problem with the sensor. BTW - it subsequently passed MD state emissions testing with flying colors.

On the 2.8 carb motor you can almost bypass all the emissions and it will run decent. Not that I would do something that is illegal. ;) It is good for offroad use only.
