D 44 swap

Okay. I'm comitted to the Dana 44 swap. I've been doing a lot of reading on what to do and how to do it but not finding all the answers on my questions.

So here is what I think I need so far.

* EB Dana 44 w/ radius arms.. correct? Will I still need to shorten the axles? What do I do with the drive shaft?

* 78-79 F-150 or Bronco Radius arm drop bracket

* 3.5" Variable Rate Duff Coils

* 6" Shocks

* Fab my own track bar mount and shock mount

This is where I get confused now. What do I use off the stock b2 and what do I scrap. What all should I take off the EB once I locate one.

Thanks for any help at all. I'd really like to keep this as simple as possible.

Anyone live around the Rausch Creek area in Pennsylvania that is willing to give me a hand please let me know.

If you find EB axles you will not have to shorten them. If you use 78-79 FS you will have to shorten them almost 6". Drive shaft will have to be made to fit whatever your transfer case is to whatever d44 you use.

You dont have to use Duff, you could use wildhorses or any EB lift springs.

I would get the springs installed and see how much travel you have and use that to determine how long a shock you need.

yes and there are some like Bob Meyers who can build for you.

All the stock suspension and axel stuff is taken out. Also you dont mention what you are going to do about steering. I would take anything off a junked EB and either use or fab up something better then what is there using the old stuff as a template. Again Bob and Matt can help out with that as well.

One last thing. Dont take as long as me doing your swap.

Hey thanks for the reply. I didn't really hear anythng about steering so I'm not sure what to do in that department.

So I went searching for an EB today. Hard to believe but I found about 45 of them, all stripped of the Dana 44! I didn't get to see the other 5 yet. I need to talk to some people.
