Low Fuel indicator light ?
Low Fuel indicator light ?
What sensor turns this light on? The little yellow one in the panel on the console. Truck was on emply when we bought it, put in 3/4 of a tank on the way home, and it stayed on. I figured it would work off the same fuel level sensor as the gas gauge, but I guess not. The wiring diagram in my Haynes manual doesn't show how the indicator panel is wired.
Typically the low fuel light is tied into the gauge. When the gauge gets to a certain level it turns the light on. Look into theat circuit or the bulb plug could have been swapped from a different light socket hiding the another probelm.

Well, according to the '84 shop manual the procedure is thus:
Connect a digital voltmeter between Terminal No. 215 (Yellow/Black Dots) (Low Fuel Sense), and Terminal No. 57 (Black)
With the ignition switch either in "ACC" or "RUN" position and the fuel tank being below a pre-determined level, the voltage accross Terminal No. 215 and 57 shall be approx 12V +/- 1.5v.
The Warning Switch is in the Console.

Rufinit; Which manual are you using for wiring info. I'd like to buy a "good" manual to have on hand. Thanks
I have the '83 Ranger/'84 Bronco II FORD Shop Manual. The one they actually use in the Ford garages. It is extremely good. If you can find one on eBay, I've seen them go for around $50. Well worth the time and effort spent with the other manuals. I also have the Haynes and Chilton manuals, but the Ford is much, much better. I happened across mine at a used car dealership and they gave it to me. Happy hunting.
