d35 swap

Post by pigmy pony »

Well it finally happened I broke the Dana 28. I was wondering if the d35 will just bolt right in. do I need the radius arms from the 35 or will mine work. Also did they put 4.10 in any of the 35 stock because mine came stock with 4.10.

From all the research I've been doing recently on BII's, the D35 is a direct bolt in and YES, there was an option in the late model BII to have 4.10 coming as stock. FYI, there was also a D35 that had the gears from a D28 using some sort of carrier. You should also be able to use everything from your BII when you do the swap. Hope this is helpful. If anyone sees an error in my response, feel free to correct me.

Keep us updated on the work. Aloha

I did the D35 swap and yes all goes in. If you have the D35 rotors then you wont encounter the problem I had. The stock BII shocks wont work on the lower half because the metal sleeve wont allow the shock to fit the d35 stud. I just punched the sleeve out, or you could change your shocks all together. I also had to shorten the front drive shaft about 1 1/4 inches. Other than that it really does bolt right in. Now would be a good time to change you radius arm bushings if they are worn out.
