i have an 1988 fbII and yes it has the 2.9 EFI v6 i know this enine had problems from the start.the problem i am having is the engine is running hotand what i am looking for is ways to keep the engine cooler . so far i have replaced the water pump.low temp thermostat and heater core ,hoses and a bigger radiator,and have a 80 to 20 cooling fluid mix i have removed the a/c condencer for more air flow in to the radiator and am adding hood scoops for more air over the engine . i have also flushed the cooling system twice . is there any more that i can do to cool the engine running cooler there is no water in the oil or coming out of the exhaust pipe .......thanks

well if tis still furrnig hot, first change the thermostat if you havnt done that already, and then if it still does it you might look into the radiator for a 4.0 v6 from an explorer as it will bolt right in where the 2.9 radiator was the difference being it is a dual core.....twice as thick allowing more coolant through it at a time, and maybe replace the fan with 4.0 fan. more blades on the fan on the 4.0 motor and slightly different pitch to pull more air flow ..... but i would do the thermostat, then radiator, as these will help the most.

yep, there is not that much to a cooling system. nd it looks like you have hit about everything exept the thermosat. if all that doesn't fix your problem you may be looking at something wrong with the engine. I would check your oil for antifreeze and your exhaust. it may be a headgasket.

If i were you i would scratch it all and put in an electric fan. Faster warm up faster cool down.
