I just got done with my 4.0 swap into 85 B2 and used an explorer fuel pump but (to no surprise) the gauge doesnt work. Can I buy something aftermarket or is there a trick to getting the gauge to work

I swapped a 4.0 into my 89 and kept the bII fuel pump and mine works perfect? Was it working before? And if so why did you change it?

My swap was an 85 with a Carb. so I had to swap sending units.

Is the fuel sender the kind with the brass float?Or does the guage do nothing at all?

the sending unit should have a float and its in the tank also is there a mechanical fuel pump or electric in tank or inline also is sending unit built into pump or separate you will need to find wiring diagram for the truck it came from and see which wire went to gauge it should be a ground coming from sending unit

No the problem is the guage thats there has a different OHM rating than what the new pump puts out. Thats the problem. Just hoped somebody knew how to fix that.

If you know the difference in the resistance maybe you can cure it with an inline resistor of the proper ohm's.
