Most of them do not work properly. I have always hit the trip meter at every fill up. The float resistor in the tank I have found wears out.

I figured that i was safe @ 228 miles with normal back and forth to work driving. I had taken it to 250 a couple of times and determined that I had cut it close. I never ran out of fuel using that number. 2.8, 4:10's, 5 speed and 34" tires.

about 200 like ranger said just top it off when you get a chance like weekly or whatever just don't let yourself run so low you need gas desperatly

yes yes my gas gauge doesnt work either. i have an 89 w/ a 2.9L and i drive 300 (~half highway, ~ half city) miles on a trip odometer and burn up 16 gallons. factory estimates were around 360 miles new. soo yeah i jsut fill it up and go 300 miles i havea bout 3-6 gallons of gas left depending if i was cruising on the highway or not.
