i have never heard of anything like that happening i can see the brakes being locked up after sitting for a while but not randomly while being towed down the road i would check for wheel bearings differential fluid and inspect your transmission i dont think your wheel lockup came from your brakes but if there was no diff fluid and it was being towed i could see heat locking up rear diff or transfer case definatly does not sound good though good luck in finding your culprit

this happened to me once, but it wasn't the brakes locked up. one of the springs in the rear assembly came off / broke, can't remember, and a brake shoe was wedged against the drum, and kind of made me have tobuy new drums....

i guess pull your drums and 'ave a look see guvnah!!

i'm assuming the rears, you didn't specify.

okay, read your post again, we need more info: get through the duh's first, was it in gear, did it become in gear, parking brake? seized brakes from sitting, why were you towing it when you just got it?, auto, manual, transfer case, 4x4? like mentioned, fluid levels, how long was it sitting? - give us some more particulars man!

you have no idea how many tow truck drivers don't check / don't give a shit if your parking brake is on. :mad2:

If the truck was sitting, ist is highly possible for the brakes to stick. Especially in the wet climate that we live in. I find that drum brakes stick all the time after sitting a season or two. I have been towing flood victims all week, 2/3's of them are locked. A couple of taps with the mini mall and backing the vehicle up free's the brakes most of the time.
