I was looking on the old board for the person that did the cab swap to a full sized frame. can't find it, so who did it?
I bought another tow rig today and plan on just cutting up the 79.

what kinda tow rig did you buy?

I bought a 76 F100, 2wd/302/auto/longbed = $500

I was wondering how you worked out the steering column, and clutch peddle?

the steering is a B*TCH but can be done. i used the bII column becuz the fullsize was gonna be a pain to fab up plus it was to long. i use a piece of the base of the 79 column to make it work but im gonna look for a borgenson to correct the angles. right now the rag joint is taking a beating.

i ran with a auto cuz it's what was in my fullsize but wanted to run the t-18 i had. i dont see a problem with it especially if your fullsize rig already has a manuel. just might need to do some sheet metal cutting to clear the shift pattern. i'll look for some pic's to post on this thread when i get home.

this is the only pic of the steering i have but i will be going to L.A. next weekend and i'll get ya some pic's of the steering. mounting the body was pretty easy. if you need pic's of anything else just say and i'll post them.

hmmm how are you going to get that carbed V8 to pass smog in cali? Or this that going to be a trailer queen OHV?

NEXT QUESTION:

are you running a 302 or 351M? looks like a 302.

my Bronco has the 351M in it and I was wondering if their was room in the BII dog house to keep it in tact.

also did the body mounts fall out side the frame or inside?
and if inside did you just box the frame and mount them down?

Hey DBrown im running a 351c it's almost identical in size as the 351m but the deck height on the block is higher so your manifold is about 2" wider.which mean's your head's are gonna be about 2" further out than mine not a big deal your engine compartment should look just like mine. i just made sure i mounted the body as close to the fire wall as i could without enterferring with getting to anything important.

the body mount's are almost in the the stock configuration. i had to make the front radiator support mount's but it was'nt hard. the mount's under the cab section were mounted as they were except in a different location( forword or aft of there stock location). the rear mount's i made similar to the radiator support mount's they look like lift block's but there really strong, and bolted on.

i'll post some pic's of what i have on the mount's tonight after work. i'll get you some more pic's of other stuff this weekend when i go to L.A.

here is a pic of the driver side radiator mount with bushing. i use the body bushing from the bII becuz it was so tall. i notched a piece of tube and welded it to the frame. the top of the tube has a gr(8) nut welded to a gr(8) washer flipped so the nut is in the inside of the tube and then the washer was welded to the inside of the tube. tube was 2" 120 or 125 thickness if i remember correct. this way i can run a bolt through the support to mount it to the body.

the body mounts in front of the rear wheels was easy. i used the original mount from my '79 and welded it to the frame. on the mount's behind the front wheel's i welded to the frame also then used 2 body mount bushing's to take up the space between the body and mount. i left the sleeves in both bushings for support.

these are the part's i used for the mount's behind the rear wheels.

inner sleeve welded to washers, and finished mount.

i mounted the back mounts under the rear b2 support near the original holes. drilled new holes in the b2 and ran a 7" bolt through the b2, the new mount, and the frame. i had to drill new holes in the frame.
