i want to do a disk brake conversion on my 9 inch. has anyone done this before?

I did it on my Dana 60 using Caddy calipers and CJ-5 rotors. The e-brake on the caddy calipers is worthless, otherwise they work great and have no problems locking up 36's.

When I do it next time, I'm going to go with the Explorer disc brakes. I think it's almost bolt on, and the e-brake actually works.

Overall, rear discs don't really offer any improved braking. Mostly just bling and a shitty e-brake. What I do like about rear disc is they are easy to work on, and possibly cheaper than rebuilding drums.

lets not forget that they work far better than drums do when wet.
I used some Ford F-150 front rotors, caliper mounts from aa-mfg.com and some Caddy calipers from the pick and pull.

I have some ford factory 9 inch rear disc caliper mounts off of a stincoln mark v. The bolt pattern was 5 on 4 1/2 so I junked the rotors. But it is a factory option made to stop a 5000 pd car. Now I just have to find the rotors that will work.
