ive seen people swing both ways on this borad and i wanna get an official count. do you preffer and auto tranny when wheeling or a manual trans and also what about when using it as a daily driver what would you prefer to drive and maybe a short explanation why you preffer which
i will have to vote manual for both daily and wheelin for a few reasons
1) i feel like it has more low end power
2) when its sick i can control rpm and speed
3) its all ive ever had :)
4) none of my friends can jump in and take off (all auto people)
5) seams like more fun

I like a manual. it makes me feel like i have more to do with actually driving the vehicle. I can't actually say i've wheeled with an auto, but i've heard they are amazing in mud - don't think, don't possess any driving skill, just mash the pedal.
bar none, coming down hills i want a manual.
as for daily driver, the auto isn't bad, we have an '06 focus that isn't to much of a chore to drive. i find auto too monotonous around town though; just stop & go.
i always thought an auto ate up fuel economy, robbed horsepower, and added extra hundred pounds or so to GVW. I guess i want a stick in the RBV, but a car could do with an auto. i guess that statement is flawed, because my last car , a 99 neon r/t, i wanted a 5-speed to play around more.
I guess what I'm tryiong to say is to use what you are comfortable with, and honestly are cpable of driving - more and more new drivers only ever (will) see an auto.

I am now 100% automatic on everything I own except the T. It is not what I would call a manual or automatic It's just weird.
I use to be a "Manual All The Way" guy. as for the usual reasons, feels faster, has more power.

A manual to me is still the best for snow and ice as you have better control of the rpm and use the gear drag alone to stop. An Automatic I think is better for slowly moving over rough obstacles and you can add just the perfect amount of power to finesse through the obstacles.
The downside of a stick to me now is I have a hard time repeatedly using the clutch with my bum legs and I got sick of Seattle stop and go traffic.
I drive along in my automatic now blissfully one footing the gas and brake, bitching cause I am loosing power and gettin worse gas mileage..
Go Figure

Hey,
The poll is rather confusing. You ask 2 questions but only allow 1 answer. I, on the other hand not thinking like usual pushed the off road automatic button.
Change my vote to auto daily..

In a stock BII i would never have a auto but i love my Auto behind my v 8. Makes wheeling much easy and its easier on parts and you can do more. the only thing that Autos suck at is running upside down! They have pleanty of compression braking if you put it in fist. my auto with my 5.0 held back the bronco way more then my stick and 2.9

I perfer the manual all the way around. I like the ability to shift when I want to not when the trans wants to. I've been screwed by the trans in some towing apps and some pulling out in traffic cause the trans won't kick down to first and wants to start in second.
Another factor is that the manual doesn't have any high pressure lines to leak or break. And in the case you lose the oil , you will still be abe to nurse the rig to a safe place.

Auto all around. Manual is more fun driving out of the city, but in the city with traffic its the worst!

Heh, I thought you could have the option for multiple answers.... guess not. I'll be sure to add that feature on the next update.
Anyway, I'm all for manuals for wheelin. All out rock crawling might be different, but for the wheelin I do, there are just too many little tricks that I can do with a stick, especially in the snow.
