D28 Locker, with 25" tires?

I have heard it is a bad idea to have a locker on a D28, let alone a D28 with a locker and 35" tires? Is this true? My BII still has the 2.9L V6. I was going to to a 4.0L swap but decided to just build up the 2.9L with a new head, headers, Ignition coil kit, cold air, blah blah blah

Anyone have any info at all on this?

Yes a d28 is weak. I would not spend any money on a d28 at all. If you wanted to weld it up and run it til it broke, that wouldnt be bad, but it wont last long. I had one welded 4.56 with 33's and I destroyed it without trying in moab.

If you want to try it and want spare parts, offer me something for extra shafts and hubs. They are cheap.

yeah thats what I was thinking. I have not had a problem yet..
So would it be better to put a front axle from a full size bronco I think they have D35 stock or D44? How much mod does it take to put the full size front IFS in? I asume it would be safe to get a locker for those

Unlocked with 35" tires it"ll last a good while, or until you start up a muddy ravine with rock half way up it. It will last quite a good while if you aren't abusive and know when to back off.
